Feel Safe: Protective Behaviours for Young Adults

This workshop is an expansion of our introductory training, Boundary Setting and Protective Behaviours.

Whereas many Protective Behaviours trainings focus on the education and engagement of children, this workshop targets strategies and skills of teaching Protective Behaviours to young adults. Our full day workshop will address complex components of Protective Behaviours including problem solving and emergencies, wanted and unwanted touch, internet safety and pornography.

A central feature of this training will be an introduction to SECCA’s newly updated ‘Feel Safe’ resource. The ‘Feel Safe’ resource addresses all of the topics listed above through various modes including eLearning, videos and hardcopy materials. It was co-designed with young adults with disabilities and contains the key elements that they asked to be included.

Who this workshop is for: This workshop is for health professionals, teachers, parents and carers.

Please note: Prior Protective Behaviours training/knowledge is required as this is an expansion workshop. You will be asked to outline your Protective Behaviours education experience upon registration.

This is a full day workshop with coffee/tea and a light morning tea. Please bring your own water bottle and lunch. We have a fridge and microwave that you’re welcome to use.
